There are still a few spots available in SBA’s acclaimed summer program, if you have a dancer in the family. Both the International Summer Intensive, for ages 11 to 20, and the Junior Summer Intensive, ages 9 to 12, are fantastic opportunities.
The programs are among the many advantages young SBA dancers enjoy, including roles in the Nutcracker held at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, as well as fall and spring recitals, such as the upcoming performance June 6 and 7th, entitled Grand Defilé with dancers including the lovely Apolline Dacheux above (for recital tickets, click here)

More about Southland Ballet Academy, the official school of Festival Ballet Theatre (FBT).
SBA students have the opportunity to audition to dance in children’s roles in FBT’s productions. These have included our annual Nutcracker Ballet and other full-length story ballets, such as Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, and Swan Lake. Additionally, our dancers work with cutting-edge contemporary choreographers and learn to stretch their artistic boundaries.
Southland Ballet was founded in 1983 by Salwa Rizkalla, and since opening its doors, the school has acquired a national and international reputation, and has played a prominent role in grooming world-class dancers while nurturing the love of dance in its Orange County home. Since opening in its modest, one-room facility, the school has grown to feature eight state-of-the-art studios in two locations.
