If you’re an outdoorsy family who loves to play when they getaway, or one who just wants to escape city life and decompress from too many daily demands, the Resort at Squaw Creek is both ideal and idyllic. Situated in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and five miles from Lake Tahoe, this luxe escape sprawls out over 195 hillside acres and is set near the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics.
My family and I recently visited the Resort for some Nor Cal summer fun, as we set out on an OC roadtrip (taking us about 10 hours to reach the Resort). You’ll find it’s quite the quintessential mountain retreat, with a charmed backdrop of endless California Red Fir and Ponderosa Pines paired with a bevy of wildflowers, squirrels, bunnies (and no bears that we saw). Here’s an upclose, personal look from our stay at the Resort at Squaw Creek.
