First Stitches. And On My Watch, Of Course.

First Stitches. And On My Watch, Of Course.

March 11, 2009

At the PLM booth this weekend at the Dana Point Street Faire, I decided to take 5 minutes to myself, the first time in 2 days, and let my husband run the show.

It was a conscious choice to decompress and just eat lunch for 5 minutes. And it was then that it happened. The scream, the pool of red, the unknown. My little guy came screaming, hysterical, with red gushing down his neck.

He had jumped off the flower bed retainer wall that was 5 feet away one time too many, fell and cut open his chin (the kid probably jumped off that wall 200 other times that weekend). My husband scooped him up, ran off to find an urgent care. They returned stitched, happy and with toys. I was left with The Mom Guilt of not watching him close enough.

At least it happened, it’s over, we’ve been inducted into the world of stitches. But next time, not my watch, please.

Great entry written by a true Mom!!!!!!

Don’t worry about your little guy, he will undoubtedly get hurt again, just be there to take care of him when he does. RC

Boys will be boys and they will always be climbing on something! It doesn’t matter whose watch it was on - only that someone was there to get him stitched up. I too watched my girly girl ride a bike, bump into a rock and instantly loose her 2 front teeth at only 2 years old. Thank heavens they are so resilient - if only we were.

Everyday I hope to be a little more like my yellow lab, Teddy. He loves everything, everybody, and is only occasionally stressed by escalators.
