OC looks at OC life
Bright Sights, Big City

Bright Sights, Big City

August 18, 2009

The first look at Irvine’s new kid-friendly Pretend City.

Kids lived it up as they got the keys to the city this premiere night at the museum, where the place seriously came alive.

Pretend City Children’s Museum is an idea 13 years in the making, and it got real by the help of donations as it’s the only nonprofit of its kind in the US.

So what’s it all about? It’s an open door for kids to be whoever and whatever they want to be—an artist, shopper, banker, performer, fireman and more. Anything goes, as kids get to play with all the real accessories to dream big. And while it’s entertaining for sure, it’s even more empowering, I think.

Lucky Irvine to land such a land of dreams for its next gen who will indeed run the show in OC and beyond one day. And way to go to the founders for seeing the idea through. The place is fresh in concept and design with a comtemporary flow. (Moms, that’s code for prepare for kids darting from land to land.)

The city opens to all August 30th. See below for my photos and visit PretendCity.org for all the museum details.
