OC’s new DIY Sweet Spot Bakery.
You’ve tried the gourmet cupcakes. But have you made them yourself?
Sweet Spot is a new spot at Spectrum that lets kids decorate and create a cupcake much like a DIY sundae . Kids pick their cake flavor, from red velvet to classic chocolate to lemon and more. Next, they add their icing with rainbow shades from blueberry to orange. And finally they Picasso-out their cakes at the Wall of Sweets with gummy worms, M&Ms, starburst, you name it (and they get unlimited trips for add-ons).
It’s quality time together disguised as a ooey, gooey treat. Kids can make their masterpieces, moms catch a break and can partake in the more civilized cakes already gourmet. (Go for the coconut number its like a 5-minute dreamy escape to the Islands. DE-lish!)
Cost: $5 a cake. You can also book birthday parties there: $15 a baker includes fun cupcake goodies and makes for a fun, original theme and no clean-up mess.
Some sweet creations below, per 3- and 5-year-old artistes.
