Kevin Bacon said it in Animal House. Are you sending out the same message?
You don’t have to be bent over like Bacon in the Omega house asking for more and more. You could be doing it every day in ways you don’t even know.
“Thank you, PTA, may I give you some more of my time that I don’t have? Thank you, extracurricular activities, may I overschedule my kid more, please. Thank you, boss man, can I volunteer for anything else I don’t want to do? And thank you, neighborhood friends, can I plan another annual event that will leave me little time to take care of my own family?”
While all the above “hits” can be good on their own, together they just don’t work.
Have you learned to say “No, thank you, world”?
Take two things off your plate today, off your list, off your shoulders. And pledge that you won’t add more tomorrow.
It seems the maternity we joined operates best with less.
