Saving is so in style. 9 easy ways to more home & harmony with less spend & splurge.
1. Avoid temptation. Skip the mall, hit the beach. Stay on the sand, and outside the beach boutiques.
2. Spruce up the inside and outside of your loveshack with a cheap trip to the garden store. Get a few flats and freshen up the entry, backyard view and plant a favorite rosebush for indoor clippings. (And no gardener magic, get down and dirty with the kiddos.)
3. Speaking of kids, if they’re old enough, put those little people to work. Nobodys off the hook these days. Cancel the cleaning crew if they’re part of your monthly scene, or cutback on their trips, and get the kids working for you. Child labor’s okay if it’s in your house.
4. Swap Starbucks out for a cup of java with a mama on the block. Grab the Aerolatte and become your own barista.
5. Light more candles. Use less electricity.
6. Sell the outgrown designer kid clothes on ebay.
7. Replace going out with more movies at home: rent or go On Demand. Invite another family and you both save.
8. Whip up some gourmet homemade pizza instead of eating out or calling delivery.
9. Got the urge to decorate the house? Get some cheap frames and throw in some of the kids’ art. It can look like remarkably nice abstract or give colorful quaint charm.
