Local Laguna author kicks butt with her entertaining, inspiring, relatable read.
Shelly Rachanow is the writer behind the words scribed within If Woman Ran The World, Sh*t Would Get Done. Now, really, how can you not love that title? The book is a blend of real-life stories, amazing everyday things women do, organizations founded by women, blank journal-like sheets to consciously write done your own butt-kicking agendas and a tally of women’s worldly accomplishments.
Shelly’s purpose of writing this entertaining, relatable read was to celebrate all we do, remind us to do for ourselves more, give permission and empower us to say yes to all the things we ever planned to do and, of course, ponder what the world might look like if we ran it the way we wanted.
What’s even better than the tell-it-like-it-is read is Shelly’s backstory. She wanted to live by the beach and write books that make a difference in people’s lives. Somehow though, she ended up as an attorney in Atlanta. Ah, life’s distracting paths. Her wake-up call was a sobering one: a friend of hers, in his late twenties, died instantly of a heart attack, and she realized that she didn’t want to waste another minute in a place she didn’t love and doing a job she “just kept doing.” So she moved to California and began writing. The rest is kick a** history.
More scoop on the book on Shelly’s site, where you can even send a fellow OC mom a Butt-Kicking Do-O-Gram for all she does, or Nominate Your Favorite Butt-Kicking Woman. Why not, give a shoutout to a Wonder Woman you know, or maybe even surprise a SuperMama with this book about positive thinking and the great things she has waiting to happen.
Shelly’s next big thing? What Would You Do If You Ran The World is dropping this month. Catch her at the book signing for it Friday Feb. 27th at 7:00 pm at Barnes and Noble in Aliso Viejo. Butt-kicking Mom, Rebecca McLaren, gives her take on the follow-up read: Not only does it offer doable ideas for helping your community and world, but it’s like having a daily devotional on my nightstand! When I only have five minutes in my day to get inspired, I just pick up this book for that extra boost I need to get through the day!”
PLM sitdown with Shelly coming soon. Stay tuned, and do great things in the meantime.
